Wayne Thiebaud, River Bend with Trees, 1997
oil on canvas, 30 1/4 x 30 in.
Paul Thiebaud Gallery returns to EXPO Chicago 2024 with a booth featuring modern masters Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Diebenkorn, Robert Arneson, Peter Voulkos, Roy De Forest, Robert Hudson, Paul Wonner, William Theophilus Brown, Arthur Okamura, and Robert M. Kulicke. With a focus on presenting premier examples of vanguard 20th century painters and sculptors, Paul Thiebaud Gallery’s booth highlights the historic contributions made by West Coast artists to the evolving story of American art. Long overshadowed by East Coast narratives of modernism, the contributions of West Coast artists have yet to be fully appreciated and recognized for the trailblazing paths they took and the new aesthetic territories they charted.
Alongside these works, Paul Thiebaud Gallery is showcasing emerging and established contemporary artists from across the United States, including Pam Sheehan, David Fertig, Catherine Maize, Laura Adler, John Santoro, Sono Osato, and Andrew Wilson. Each of these artists employs skill and excellence in their chosen mediums to bring their respective aesthetic visions into reality, resulting in superb works of visual and intellectual integrity.
We are pleased to present these works at the first edition of EXPO Chicago under the leadership of Frieze.
