Karla Wozniak in Conversation with Emily Davis Adams

On Saturday, November 2, 2024, painters Karla Wozniak and Emily Davis Adams got together at Paul Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco, California to have a conversation about Wozniak's paintings in her exhibition "Heavy Weather".
 

Artist Information

Karla Wozniak received her BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and her MFA from the Yale School of Art. She has been the recipient of an Alice Kimbell English traveling Fellowship (2005), a New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship (2011), and was a finalist for SFMOMA’s SECA Award in 2019. She has received numerous residencies, including those at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, the MacDowell Colony, the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, and the Millay Colony Residency. Her works have been exhibited across the United States, as well as in Europe and Canada, and can be found in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and the Knoxville Museum of Art. Wozniak is currently an Associate Professor at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA.

Emily Davis Adams is a visual artist dedicated to representational painting and its possibilities as a vehicle for critical thought and meaning. Adams attended UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture and UC Berkeley where she studied in both the Department of Art Practice and the College of Natural Resources. She received a BS from UC Berkeley and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art in New York City, where she was also awarded the 2011 Postgraduate Fellowship. Her work has been exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in the United States, Canada and Germany. She has taught at Queens College in New York City, Sonoma State University and Stanford University, among others. She is currently based in the Bay Area.
